Folks, I'm officially stating that Barberman is on hiatus. You see how prolific I've been the last few weeks and I don't see that changing any time soon.
I hope to bring it back in the near future, probably in a new form. Thank you for reading! I'll let you know if something changes.
This is the note that Condi Rice gave to the President this morning . . . Pay special attention to what Pres. Bush scribbled on the side. (Thanks to KJL and the Corner)
My apologies for the long layover, folks. The plane has finally reached the gate and the boarding should start any time now, I promise.
Let me take a few moments to catch you all up on the recent doings 'round the Barber clan.
We spent five days in Arkansas . . . home. Some highlights:
- baby free throws with Johnny Wink
- quality time with my aunt and Grandmother
- Tim and Nancy Harrell's wedding
- beer and red meat with Currey and Nate-dogg
When we came back, we saw Simon and Garfunkel in concert. The best two words in the English language? "Second Encore."
I'll fill in a bit more later. I'm bursting at the seams.
Ok. I admit it, Limpie. I made a mistake. I was wrong. I've just been listening to some VOL and I now see the error of my ways. I still love Andrew Peterson, but there's no denying who my favorite band is.
I am so shocked that stories like this never make the mainstream media [/sarcasm].
Money quote: "I am so proud of this mission we accomplished while there. We put their school back in existence and supplied school supplies for them.
We gave power to areas that had to do without. Roads that were damaged were slowly rebuilt by other battalions. We showed hope and kindness to a country that knew none."
Let me tell you about friendship. Friendship is a man who, when he travels to Mississippi on vacation, will bring you back a cheeseburger from Sonic, simply because he knows you haven't had one in a long time. That, my people, is true friendship.
By the way, based purely on airplay (iTunes and in the car), the top five looks like this:
1. Andrew Peterson
2. Ben Folds (check out the new EP from The Bens – Folds, Kweller, and Lee – it rocks – 4 bucks on iTunes)
3. Counting Crows
4. Bill Mallonee
5. David Wilcox
Today in 1879, the first Catholic missionaries arrived in Uganda by canoe. It was one of the most successful missions in history, and now two-thirds of Ugandans are Christian.
